Hair Extension Blends Edition 1

Hair Extension Blends Edition 1

The right shade combination can transform a client's look, adding the depth and dimension that makes the hair look completely natural. It's why so many of our stylists rarely reach for a single colour. Blending two, three or more shades together is how you recreate a lived-in, hand-painted finish clients, and with over 55 shades in the range, the combinations are almost endless.

In this first edition, we're sharing some of our favourite shade pairings, with alternatives to try in each category. Between them, these blends feature several of our bestselling shades, including our single most-fitted base shade and three of our top five C-series colours, so you know you're building on combinations stylists already trust.

Highlighted Brunettes

A blended brunette is a classic for a reason. Pairing C1 Brunette, a rich warm mid-brunette, with C2 Mocha and C16 Penny brings real depth and dimension to your client's hair: the deeper brunette tones give a beautiful base, while C16 Penny, our fourth bestselling C-series shade, adds a rooted, ashy lift through the lengths. The result is a soft, lived-in finish with natural movement, rather than a flat single tone, ideal for clients who want their blonde to look grown-out or their brunette to be dimensional.

Also try: swap in C13 Boho for a more sun-kissed, rooted finish.

Jet Black and Dark Brunette

A classic combination for your darker-haired clients. 1 Jet, 1B Sierra or 1A Lara blend beautifully together and are one of our most popular dark pairings. 1 Jet gives the deep base colour, while 1B Sierra, our single most-fitted base shade, and 1A Lara, a clean neutral darkest brown, soften it with a natural edge. Ideal for clients wanting a little extra depth and gloss in their dark hair, with no harsh line.

Also try: add 1C Orca for an off-black base with subtle warmth, or 1B2 Raven, our second bestselling base shade, to warm the blend slightly.

Rooted Blonde Blends

Rooted shades let you blend multiple tones for a seamless, grown-out finish. One of our favourite combinations is C17 Faith, W14 Sandy and W15 Covet: the rooted tones of C17 Faith and W15 Covet create a natural root-mimic base, while W14 Sandy brings brightness through the lengths. Together they give a low-maintenance, lived-in blonde that's one of the most requested looks of the summer.

Also try: C20 Beam, our second bestselling C-series shade, is a rooted blonde that works beautifully as the grown-out base, or reach for W10 Glazed or W13 Zen for a warmer rooted melt.

Ash Blonde Blend

For a bright, beachy finish, C9 Gloss mixed with C18 Ash creates a cool blonde with real brightness. C18 Ash brings a clean silver-ash base, while C9 Gloss, our fifth bestselling C-series shade, adds bright, clean shine, giving a beachy ash blonde that's perfect for lightening up your blonde clients through the warmer months. For extra dimension, blend in C26 Taylor, one of our newest shades: a soft, ashy multi-tonal blonde that adds depth and movement so the finish reads lived-in rather than flat.

Also try: C5 Haze, our third bestselling C-series shade and a highly multi-tonal cool ashy blonde, deepens the blend, or C24 Pearl, keeps it cool and ashy.

Warm Honey Blonde Blend

For clients who want warmth rather than cool tones, a honey blend is a gorgeous option. C6 Honey paired with C8 Sienna builds a warm, golden blonde with dimension, while a touch of C12 Cashmere softens the root for a lived-in finish. Ideal for clients who want a warm, golden blonde with plenty of natural depth.

Also try: W6 Gold for a warm root and extra golden warmth, or W8 Wheat to deepen the blend toward a warm beige.

Copper and Red Blends

Red is one of the most eye-catching colours a client can wear, and blending keeps it from reading flat. 30 Ray, a natural copper, blended with 33 Ember adds rich, bright dimension, while 433 Chestnut deepens the colour for a glossy copper. A striking, dimensional finish for clients ready to commit to red.

Also try: W5 Auburn for a brighter copper-blonde, or W1 Acorn for some added soft, brunette tones.

Finding your perfect blend

Whether you're after subtle highlights or a full multi-dimensional transformation, the right shade combination makes all the difference. Our best advice is to build from a base tone and layer two or more complementary shades through the lengths.
