Micro Rings

The Micro Rings are the small metal rings sold in pots of 200 as 'Size 1' 'Size 2' and 'Size 3' in various shades and labelled with our standard logo 'The London Hair Lab'.

These small rings are generally used to fit the I-tip hair extensions and/or wefted hair directly to the client's scalp. This should be undertaken by a qualified hair stylist with additional certification in hair extensions.

They contain metal.

It is advised that you make your clients aware of our warning label attached to the product.

Allergy Warning: Not Suitable in cases of known or suspected prior skin reaction to metals.

If a client would like to have the micro rings fitted, it is best to obtain a waiver stating that they are aware of this allergy warning and have been given an opportunity to notify you of any allergy. We sell client consultation and consent forms.

Further to this we advise that you perform a patch test on all clients.

Directions: Fit a test strand of I-tip hair using a micro ring. Fit it behind the ear and cut away the full length of the strand of hair so it is not visible.

Ask the client to continue to wear this test piece for a minimum of 72 hours and notify you of any redness, irritation, soreness or itchiness at or around the site. If any of the above symptoms are notified to you, or visible to you (with or without the client informing you) then it is advised that the client does not have the micro rings fitted and their allergy is noted on their client file.

Flat Tip Extensions

The micro bonding method whereby the Flat Tip strands of hair, made with Keratin, are fitted by applying heat and forming a bond with the clients own hair can only be applied by a qualified and certified professional stylist with further training in hair extensions.

Client suitability is to be assessed prior to installation.

Suitability:

Clients should have healthy hair growth at the scalp.

The client's hair density should be classified as normal so that a Flat Tip strand can be safely applied to a safe section of the clients own hair and stay in place for a maximum of 12 weeks, accounting for up to 2 inches of expected hair growth. Flat Tip hair should be bonded at a distance no less than 1cm away from the scalp.

Clients should have no current hair loss; mild moderate or severe.

Any history of hair loss should be noted on their file and a recurrence of hair loss at any time while wearing Flat Tip hair extensions would indicate that the hair extensions should be removed immediately.

Flat Tip/ bonded hair extensions can be placed only in strong hair growth areas. This excludes hair at the the temples or around the hair line.

Stylists are advised to provide aftercare advice to all clients and to obtain a client waiver prior to installation.

The removal of bonded hair extensions should be undertaken by a skilled and fully qualified and certified stylist. The appropriate removal fluid should be used and time taken to release the clients own hair from inside the bonds. Any client who has accidentally applied excessive heat to the bonds may have caused the bonds to become compacted. This may lead to a longer and more difficult removal process and may mean the client is no longer suitable to have the bonded method applied in the future.

Tape Extensions

The Tape Method whereby a double sided tape tab is sealed to the polyurethane strip and can be applied directly to the clients hair, in a pair, with the client's own hair sitting between the pair of tapes can only be applied by a qualified and certified professional stylist with further training in hair extensions.

Client suitability is to be assessed prior to installation.

Suitability:

Clients should have healthy hair growth at the scalp.

The client's hair density should be classified as normal so that a pair of Tapes can be safely applied to a safe section of the clients own hair and stay in place for a maximum of 6 weeks for finer hair types and 8 weeks for thicker hair types, accounting for up to 2 inches of expected hair growth.

Clients should have no current hair loss; mild moderate or severe.

Any history of hair loss should be noted on their file and a recurrence of the hair loss at any time while wearing the Tape hair extensions would indicate that the hair extensions should be removed immediately.

Tape hair extensions can be placed only in strong hair growth areas. This excludes hair at the temples or around the hair line.

Stylists are advised to provide aftercare advice to all clients and to obtain a client waiver prior to installation.

Tape Hair extensions are more sensitive to poor aftercare practices by clients. This method is classified as a semi-permanent method, as they may slip out due to moisture at the root, natural or introduced through washing and styling. It is advised that clients are made aware that they should abide by the maintenance advice carefully in order to improve the longevity and wear-time, but that the expected wear-time cannot be guaranteed.

Clip In Hair Extensions

The Clip- In hair should not be secured to fine hair or in areas where your hair is less dense (like temples or your hair line).

Guidance on washing and storing your clip-in hair:

Avoid using excessive hairspray or heavy styling products as these can build up over time and also lead to discolouration of the hair.

Heat tools can be used to style the hair, but a good-quality heat protector should be used to prevent scorching.

To wash the clip-in hair, it is best to do this in mild shampoo and thoroughly rinse, before applying a good-quality conditioner and blow drying immediately. Leaving your clip-in to air dry is not advised.

Once fully dry, your clip - in can be stored at normal room temperature away from sunlight,
